what is chiclet (aka the DSP music box)?

myself and three artists/musicians/engineers decided to fulfill a lifelong dream of ours and build a platform for portable algorithmic and generative music. we would control the hardware and software for creating music. not only that, but we were able to correct some of the shortcomings of the original EZKit. here's what the board contains:

* an 80MHz ADSP-2187N DSP processor
* a FLASH memory (currently the AMD29F040, though we are most likely going to use a different FLASH with smaller sectors)
* an AD1885 CODEC
* trendy LEDs (blue AND white!)
* audio in/out
* RS232 support for download and for noah's wonderful MIDI interface
* an expansion header for adding additional peripherals

what are the plans for the DSP music box?

currently we are not planning on making chiclet available for general purchase or development purposes. none of us are too excited to provide techincal support for the hardware and software. however, we are in the planning stage of creating small runs of chiclets preloaded with our music, which would then be available for purchase in record stores. this would be (to our best knowledge) the first dedicated widesprad hardware/software release of a music composition. interesting possibilities in autonomous song generation are quite exciting, perhaps even revolutionary.

even though our hardware platform will not be avaialble for general purpose programming, i am working with other hardware developers to provide platforms for writing music using my software development tools. for more information on this, go here.

how do i keep informed on future work?
